Life for me gets harder on a rainy day. When I’m in a hurry, things get in the way. The sun’s not shining, it’s dull and dreary. My bones just feel quite weary. Then the sun peeks through the clouds so free And now, the day, I can finally see. So, I kick off the slippers, put on the shoes. Grab the car keys ‘cause there’s no excuse! Go out to lunch with a friend The list just has no end.
Alicia Beckwith is a Rochester poet and author and has been writing for four decades. Her poems have been published in book collections and magazines.
